PRESIDENT’S CORNER
On January 27th I was installed as the President of this wonderful organization of talented and intelligent women. I can’t tell you how honored and excited I am to be leading the charge this year. I want to thank Holly Comer for doing an outstanding job this past year as President. What a hard act to follow. She will be going on to help the Governor as Co-Chair of his campaign for re-election in Cobb County. I want to also congratulate Millie Rogers, as the new President of Georgia Federation of Republican Women. I know she will take our organization to new heights. Then there is our own Sue Everhart, 1st Vice Chairman of the Ga Republican Party. We are so proud of you, Sue. We will work hard to help you become the 1st Woman Chairman of this great state of Georgia. Wow what a group, and that’s just a few of us. But, all of us working together have a lot to accomplish this year.
First and foremost, we have a Governor to re-elect. This should help to elect a full Republican ticket in November. As we have successfully done in the past, we will be having our forums and Get-Out-the-Vote Rally again this summer to help all those that are running in the election. I can’t emphasis enough the need for volunteers from our members and associate members to BE involved. This is the time to help and get our message out. We can not be complacent.
Women will be the key to this election. Presently, in Georgia, 62% of the registered voters are women. In the 2004 election, women contributed to 56% of the vote. With Cathy Cox jump starting her campaign two weeks ago, she will pull some of those women’s votes, who don’t understand what she stands for, but will vote for her just because she IS a woman. It will be our job to get our message out. I believe we need to reemphasis our message for women.
1) National Security – Illegal Immigration
2) Lower taxes
3) Fiscal responsibility
4) Eliminating the death tax – women tend to live longer than men
5) Reduction of the marriage tax
6) Less government
I also think it’s a good idea to continue to remind our current legislators about where we stand. We must also support them all in their quest for re-election and to capturing new seats from the school board all the way to Congress.
Thank you again for allowing me this opportunity to serve you. I will give it my all.
Please don’t forget to come out and support our Governor on Feb 24, at InfoMart. Now is the time to start and I need your help!
Susan Roberts
President
